Twilight etc
It was about time I made a comprehensive post about the Twilight saga and everything around it.
Let's talk about the books first. I Think that Stephenie Meyer had touched some sensitive cord with the sweet teen love story, that honestly felt like fresh breeze in the book world filled with violence, thrillers, dramas and very similar fantasy installments. No one really writes about love, Danielle Steel doesn't count, does she? :D I for one know that I wanted to read a love story framed by some adventures or even dark decor. It's a shame though that progressively the books lost their charm, and I didn't even manage finishing Breaking Dawn at all, because Meyer's narration became dull.
I don't really have a problem with chastity thing that was so widely talked about, namely in French issue of Glamour. I don't mean to look conservative or something, I don't have issues with people who do what they want with their sex lives, but I believe that some modesty wouldn't be too much in our modern world when everything is allowed, nothing is hidden anymore. As always moderation in whatever we do.
Now a word about the movies, of course. I really can't stand the Kristen/Robert duo anymore. I liked Kristen in the beginning, her appearance is really Bella-ish for me, however all the talks about Pattinson and her being involved off-screen, the endless gossip about him being in love with her from the first days together... This is just so boring. I mean the guy isn't even attractive, and he totally can't act. How did he land as Edward Cullen is still a big mystery for me. I love Carlisle, though. An only character that I appreciate even more after the movie.
And there is the fandom. General craziness over the smallest word said by production, directors or actors is just... too much. I mean this is just a book after all, and this is just a movie being made of it. Nobody is going to die if David Slade doesn't make a masterpiece out of Eclipse. Seriously.
The Host now. Coudln't help myself, sorry. The high banality and utter lack of interest of this book disappointed me. Someone said that people complained because The Host wasn't like Twilight. Exactly. But not in the sense that it dealt with aliens and not vampires. In the sense that I foolishly expected the same magic, hypnotic power of Twilight to be transmitted to new (so-called adult) novel. Unfortunately, it didn't happen.
Anyway, I still love the story of Edward and Bella. I still think that we need more love, even somehow naive and simple, instead of endless murder investigations, bloody crimes and people's heads found separately from the bodies in trash.
